One of the easiest and most efficient things that can be done to increase battery life for the Blackberry smartphones is getting a holster with the proximity magnet.
The proximity magnet puts the Blackberry phone in sleep mode when the phone is inserted into the holster. This way the screen does not drain the battery.
Proximity magnets are in all Blackberry OEM holsters as well as many aftermarket leather holsters. Magnets have recently been showing up in quick release plastic holsters as well.
